Water Forecasting: Paul Ching-Bor’s First Solo Show in Korea

Watercolor artist Paul Ching-Bor opens his first solo exhibition in Korea, “WATER FORECASTING,” at Bongsan Culture Center (3rd exhibition hall) from Nov 18–23. Born in Guangdong in 1963, Paul trained in China, moved to Sydney in 1987, and later to New York, earning international scholarships in 1990–91. His work fuses New York’s urban energy with Abstract Expressionist spirit and Eastern-Western aesthetics. Unlike traditional transparent watercolors, his paintings feature heavy, structured brushwork, layered handling of water, and urban tension. The show explores the emotional traces of water within cities, human experience, and the passage of time. A Bongsan representative says his watercolors visualize the city’s melancholy and passion, offering intense feeling beyond traditional watercolor clarity.
