Jeju Province relaunched its “One Group, One Oreum” stewardship campaign to systematically conserve and manage 368 oreums (small volcanic hills). A reminder kickoff was held at Hallasan Arboretum where 67 new community groups were designated after a recent reorganization. Each participating group—required to have at least 10 members and can be a village association, club, company, or school—will commit to monthly or bimonthly activities such as trail and litter maintenance, vegetation monitoring, and reporting illegal behavior to take responsibility for a specific oreum. Designated groups signed pledges to protect oreums, maintain visitor order, and preserve ecosystems to help create a happier balance between people and nature in Jeju. Organizations that missed the recent registration can still apply until year-end.
