MBC’s travel show featured cartoonist Kian84 visiting Lijiang in Yunnan, China — a highland city famed for the nearby Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (a sacred peak for the Naxi people) and the UNESCO-listed Old Town. Historically a hub on the ancient Tea Horse Road (차마고도), Lijiang blends timber architecture, canals and markets selling herbal teas and handwoven textiles. Banyan Tree Lijiang, a resort inspired by Naxi design, situates villas and water features to frame the snow-capped peaks and recreates the city’s traditional water channels. Guests can join cultural programs like workshops with a keeper of the Dongba script (동파문자, the Naxi pictographic writing) and Naxi embroidery collaborations, offering immersive experiences in local heritage.
