Diabetes and Obesity Drug Makers Top Global Pharma and Biotech Market Caps

U.S. Eli Lilly and Denmark’s Novo Nordisk have emerged as the world’s largest pharmaceutical and biotech companies by market capitalization, driven by blockbuster diabetes and obesity drugs. Eli Lilly, boosted by obesity treatments Mounjaro and Zepbound, reached about $805.34 billion, far surpassing Johnson & Johnson. Novo Nordisk leads global biotech with roughly $218.22 billion, supported by Ozempic (diabetes) and Wegovy (obesity). Among pharma, AstraZeneca, Novartis, and Sanofi rank in the top 10; no South Korean pharma made the top 10, though Yuhan and Hanmi placed around the 60s–70s. In biotech, South Korea’s Samsung Biologics (5th), Celltrion (6th), and Alteogen (8th) are in the global top 10, while several other Korean firms appear within the top 100. Many Chinese, Japanese, and Indian companies also feature when the list expands to the top 100.
