K-Auction will hold a November auction on the 26th at its Sinsa-dong, Seoul headquarters, offering 108 lots valued at about 8.6 billion won. The sale highlights 70 years of Korean modern abstract art, led by Kim Whanki's 1954 Clair de Lune (답교) and works by first-generation pioneers like Lee Bong-sang, as well as prominent Dansaekhwa (monochrome painting) masters Park Seo-bo, Jung Sang-hwa, and Ha Chong-hyun. Also included are celebrated artists Kim Chang-yeol (known for water-drop motifs), Lee Ufan, Jang Uk-jin, Lee Dae-won’s large two-panel landscapes, and early Korean impressionist Oh Ji-ho. Internationally renowned artists—such as David Hockney, Yayoi Kusama, Eva Hesse, Kazuo Shiraga, Anthony Caro, and Donyoung (Donna Huanca)—are featured too. The sale includes Korean traditional painting and antiques, calligraphy by historical figures like Kim Jeong-hui and Kim Gu, and ceramics. A public preview runs from the 18th through the auction day at the K-Auction gallery; it is open daily, free, and no reservation is required, and attendance on auction day is open to all regardless of membership.
