The musical Rent opens its 10th Korean season at COEX Artium in Seoul, running through Feb. 22, 2026. First staged on Broadway in 1996 and approaching its 30th anniversary, Rent has been performed in 50 countries and won major awards including Tony and Pulitzer recognitions. Actor Kim Suha, reprising the role of Mimi (a lead character), said the show endures because it tells “the story we are living now” and resonates with young people facing anxiety and hardship. The modern adaptation of Puccini’s La Bohème, written by Jonathan Larson, follows artists in New York’s East Village as they struggle with poverty, love and identity. This season features a mix of veteran and new cast members in several roles, triple-cast Rogers, and diverse musical styles from rock to tango.
