A Korea-Cuba friendship concert titled 'Musical Journey from Havana to Seoul' will be held on December 2 at the Prugio Art Hall in Euljiro, Seoul, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The program brings together Cuban Afro-Cuban jazz and Korean traditional/modern music, featuring the young Afro-Cuban jazz group Los Hermanos Abreu Trio (Diego Abreu on piano, Fabio Abreu on drums, Roberto Alvarez on double bass), Latin percussion master Yaroldi Abreu, and gayageum (Korean zither) player Seo Jeong-min. The concert includes solo sets and collaborations, with pieces like Duke Ellington’s 'Take the A Train' arranged in Cuban style, the trio’s hits 'Latin-va' and 'Conga desértica (Desert Conga)', Seo’s 'Carousel' and 'Saebyeol Oreum', and the world premiere of a cross-cultural new work combining traditional and popular music. Admission is free. Organizers say the event aims to transcend borders and languages through shared musical emotions that transform 'han' (a uniquely Korean sense of deep sorrow/longing) into joy.
