Yeo Han-gu, head of trade negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said the government will announce measures within the year to expand exports of K-consumer goods tied to Hallyu (Korean Wave). Visiting Musinsa Standas (a Korean fashion retail store) in Seoul, he reviewed K-fashion export status and met distribution companies to explore export strategies using strong domestic platforms. The plan includes stronger Hallyu-linked marketing—tying promotions to K-pop concerts and Hallyu fairs—letting leading retail platforms design campaigns, and enhancing support in logistics, certification (e.g., halal), and IP to resolve exporters’ problems. The ministry will work with KOTRA’s local trade offices to build tailored logistics infrastructure, expand overseas certification consulting, boost cross-border e-commerce by creating global malls and connecting local logistics partners, and support customs and certification processes. Yeo emphasized that Korean distribution platforms are key bridges to global consumers and pledged continued support for capable firms so small and medium producers reach more international buyers.
