Major Korean supermarkets are running promotions for kimjang (traditional Korean kimchi-making) season, sharply lowering napa cabbage prices. Homeplus is selling three-cabbage nets for 2,997 won (999 won per head), limited to one per customer, and offering other kimjang essentials like radish bundles, fresh chives, gochugaru (red pepper powder), peeled garlic, and ginger at discounted rates through November 19. Lotte Mart/Super members can buy three-cabbage nets for 5,967 won (1,989 won per head) via a government collaboration, with garlic and leafy greens also on sale. Emart has offered three-cabbage nets for 5,984 won with a 1,000 e-money point bonus for Shinhsegae point users, and GS The Fresh runs a “Kimjang Festival” selling three-cabbage nets for 5,900 won and radish bundles for 6,900 won; some stores even sell day-of pickled cabbage. Retailers say they prepared essential kimjang items at reasonable prices for the peak kimjang season.
