Nurse and Cancer Survivor Park So-young Holds Solo Art Exhibition on Healing

Park So-young, a nurse at Gangwon National University Hospital and lymphoma survivor, is holding her first solo painting exhibition “All Beings Shed Tears” at Papyrus cultural space in Chuncheon through the 30th. A non-art major who joined a group show in 2023, Park displays about 30 works including pieces made during her cancer treatment. The exhibit explores fragile emotions between life and death and uses art to cleanse psychological pain. Its signature work, “Free your mind, stay this moment,” reflects her view that tears and sorrow can be purifying forces that renew life. Park, who has worked decades in clinical nursing and held leadership roles (including in an intensive care unit and an end-of-life care center), said we should cherish the present and comfort one another in limited time.
