Korean Single Malt 'Giwon Signature' Wins Best of Class at SFWSC 2025

GiWon (기원), South Korea’s first single malt, took the Best of Class (top prize) at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) 2025 for its 'Signature' expression. Judges praised its sweet notes from sherry and wine cask maturation and a balanced touch of Korean spices. GiWon also saw its 'Unicorn' expression earn a unanimous 'Double Gold', further proving K-whisky’s quality on the global stage. The SFWSC award involved strict additional blind tastings among five finalists, competing with renowned brands such as Taiwan’s Kavalan and India’s Amrut. GiWon CEO Do Jeong-han celebrated the win by waving a taegukgi (Korean national flag) and said the results confirm the potential of a distinctly Korean style of whisky in the international market.
