At the 39th Textile Day ceremony held in Seoul with about 500 industry attendees, the Korean textile and fashion sector honored 47 people for contributions to the field. The event marks the anniversary of Korea’s first single-industry achievement of $10 billion in exports (November 11, 1987). Jungwoo Textile chairman Oh Byung-chul received the Gold Tower Industrial Medal for elevating the domestic knit and woven fabric industry to global standards. Seon-hee Seo, chair of Dunfield Alpha, was awarded the Silver Tower Industrial Medal for launching multiple new brands and expanding into overseas markets. The Korea Federation of Textile Industries emphasized plans to diversify export markets, pursue higher value-added products, strengthen industry–academia–research cooperation, nurture global next-generation talent, expand ESG management, and develop recycled-fiber (recycled textile) technologies to boost K-textile fashion competitiveness and build a sustainable industry ecosystem.
