Zespri Ships First Domestic ‘SunGold’ Kiwis Grown in Jeju This Year

Zespri announced the first shipment this year of domestically grown SunGold kiwis cultivated in Jeju, where abundant sunlight and volcanic soil provide ideal growing conditions. The company grows these kiwis under its own quality-control program. SunGold kiwis are nutrient-dense, containing over 20 vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin E and folate; one fruit can provide more than 100% of an adult’s daily vitamin C needs, which may help boost immunity during seasonal illness. Domestic production of SunGold kiwis has been expanding rapidly—averaging about 36% annual growth from 2021 to 2025—positioning the fruit as a rising winter-season favorite. Zespri Korea said it will continue strict quality management and cooperative efforts with local farmers to support sustainable growth in the Korean kiwi market.
