Gangneung’s living cultural heritage artisan Kim Sun-deok holds her 2025 transmission exhibition from June 11–16 at Gangneung Arts Center (2nd Exhibition Hall); the opening is at 2 PM on the 11th. Titled “The Story of Gangneung Embroidery’s Beauty,” the show features restored works previously unseen — including Gangneung subo (traditional embroidery panels), jogakbo (patchwork wrapping cloth) and yeoiju-bo (ornamental cloth) — alongside pieces that revive and reinterpret the embroidered insect-and-flower painting attributed to Shin Saimdang (a historical Korean artist) and other craft works. The exhibition highlights 50 years of Kim’s meticulous hand-stitching and the regional roots of Gangneung embroidery.
