The Jeju Tangerine Association held a promotional event on November 8 at the Korean Folk Village in Yongin to celebrate the peak season for outdoor-grown tangerines. About 2,000 visitors received fresh tangerines and could join SNS subscription and survey activities. Practical tangerine-themed giveaways (picnic mats, keyrings, post-its, carabiners) were distributed, and families and foreign tourists snapped photos by a giant Jeju tangerine balloon. The association has run similar consumer events across the Seoul area since August — at Starfield Goyang, Cheonggyecheon Plaza, and aT Center — and engaged university students in September to broaden awareness. The main “Tangerine Day” festival will be held Dec 6–7 at Bongeunsa Temple in Seoul, featuring an EDM performance by broadcaster Yoon Seong-ho as the character “NewJinSunim” and on-site sales of Jeju tangerines and processed products under the playful theme “Gyululala.” Tangerine Day, established in 2015, aims to promote high-quality tangerines (minimum 12° Brix sweetness, acidity ≤1%) and support farmers’ incomes through nationwide campaigns every December.
