South Korea will deploy about 20,000 police officers to ensure smooth administration of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). Traffic police (10,475 officers) and 9,210 personnel will be stationed at test preparation and grading centers. Police have prepared contingency plans for bomb threats at exam sites (including training exercises simulating bomb threat FAXs and explosive disposal), though details are withheld to avoid aiding copycats. Since August, bomb threat reports targeting schools and public places have surged, with incidents often involving scammers impersonating a "Japanese lawyer" — information now shared with education authorities. Law enforcement will also mobilize 2,238 police vehicles to enforce no-parking zones, curb noise near test centers, and transport students who cannot arrive within the allowed entry window. Separately, police reported a 33% rise in emergency calls during Halloween events in areas like Itaewon and Hongdae, but credited preventive deployments with preventing major incidents.
