Dong-A Otsuka said sales of its milk tea brand Deja Vu rose about 20% during the college entrance exam season (September–November) compared with June–August over the past three years. Deja Vu (a blend of TEA and JAVA) uses young tea leaves from Java, Indonesia, and contains 30% black tea extract; it launched in 1997 as a 240ml can and added a 500ml PET bottle in 2017. A 240ml can has 55 mg of caffeine, and consumers and campus vending-machine users say its milder caffeine level and moderate sweetness make it suitable for late-night studying. The company noted that peak-to-low monthly sales gaps during the exam season exceeded 40% for three consecutive years.
