The Novus Quartet, a renowned Korean string quartet, has released their sixth international album featuring the complete works of Brahms' string quartets. The album is available online as of the 14th of this month, with a physical release on the 20th. The quartet, formed in 2007, consists of violinists Jae-Young Kim and Young-Wook Kim, violist Kyu-Hyun Kim, and cellist Won-Hae Lee. They have previously completed the works of Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, and Beethoven, with 2023 marking their return to Brahms. Celebrating this new release, they will host recitals across four South Korean cities, beginning in Seoul on March 8. Despite their global success and historic achievements, including being the first Koreans to win at prestigious international competitions, they emphasize the challenges of maintaining a deep musical philosophy in today’s music scene. Their journey illustrates both the addictive nature of musical growth and the importance of a compelling mission in the arts.
