Korean food and beverage makers are rolling out “mini” versions of popular products—smaller portions that are convenient, cute and lower in calories or sugar. Examples include Namyang’s Choco Emong Mini (120ml, no added sugar), Haitai-Binggrae’s one-bite Babambaite Mini and Nugabite Mini ice creams, Lotte Wellfood’s mini Screwbar and Jawsbar, and Binggrae’s The:Protein Crunch Bar Choco mini. Companies say mini products appeal not just to kids but also adults seeking portion control, portability and a little indulgence without the guilt. The trend mirrors global moves by big brands and reflects a market that grew about 21% over five years to $2.4 billion. (Choco Emong, Babamba, Nugabar are popular Korean snack/ice cream brands)
