K-pop reached a milestone as Korean artists earned nominations in the Grammy Awards’ general fields for the first time. Blackpink’s Rosé, credited on “APT.” with Bruno Mars, received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance—marking the first time a K-pop artist was nominated in the Grammys’ top categories. The theme song “Golden” from the Netflix animated series K-pop Demon Hunters (케이팝 데몬 헌터스) was also nominated for Song of the Year and multiple other categories—an unusual achievement for an animation OST. Multinational girl group Cat’s Eye, a HYBE and Geffen Records project, earned a Best New Artist nomination. International outlets hailed the nominations as recognition that K-pop is now part of mainstream global pop rather than a separate niche, signaling a cultural shift in how Western music institutions evaluate Korean artists. The 2026 Grammy ceremony will take place on Feb. 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.
