Planet Mountain, an Italian climbing media outlet, paused operations for one day each on Sept. 22 and Oct. 3 to protest the ongoing war in Palestine, posting no updates on its website or social media during those days. Both dates coincided with nationally proposed alliance work stoppages (동맹휴업일). The international mountaineering community has staged similar protests: a large “Stop genocide(집단학살을 멈춰라)” banner was displayed on El Capitan in Yosemite in June 2024 and on Mont Blanc in May 2025; a Palestinian flag was hung on the Dru West Face in the Alps in Aug. 2025 and on the summit of Mount Etna (3,403m) on Sept. 22.
