To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the M Classic Festival, the Mapo Arts Center will host “Autumn, Serenade” on the 23rd with all seats priced at only 1,000 won. The program features conductor Choi Young-sun, pianist Song Young-min (known for performing in the drama “Secret Love Affair” and the film “Keys to the Heart”), sopranos Ko Hyun-ah and Choi Jung-won, baritone Kim Jung-kwon, and the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. The two-part concert opens with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik (1st movement), Sibelius’s “Valse triste,” and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 (2nd movement, Romance). The second half includes Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana, beloved Korean art songs such as “First Love,” “Greeting,” and “Dongshimcho,” plus popular opera arias like “La ci darem la mano” (from Mozart’s Don Giovanni) and “Lippen schweigen” (from Lehár’s The Merry Widow). Pianist Song will also provide commentary to deepen audience understanding.
