'All the Kimchi in the World, Bonfire Party' — 2025 Goesan Kimchi Festival Opens

The 2025 Goesan Kimchi Festival opened on Nov. 6 at the Goesan Organic Expo Plaza in Chungbuk with the theme “All the Kimchi in the World, Bonfire (modakbul) Party.” Signature programs include “one-stop kimchi-making” and a drive-thru kimchi service with 1,001 teams participating (791 general, 210 eco-friendly). On-site kimchi-making is available for walk-ins; prices start at 148,000 KRW for 20kg salted cabbage + 7.5kg filling and 76,000 KRW for 10kg + 3.8kg. The four-day festival expanded its “grill-and-eat” area and added a national kimchi-master competition. Attractions include a large skewer grilling zone by Dongjin Stream, a K-Kimchi Market, a master-class with kimchi artisan Ih Ha-yeon, a kimchi history exhibit by Jinji Museum director Kim Jeong-hee, special programs for people with disabilities, foreigner and children kimchi workshops, contests, concerts, bonfires, and fireworks. Activities culminate with kimchi-sharing for neighbors in need, emphasizing community, intergenerational exchange, and generosity.
