Sokcho Port Wins 'Asia Excellence Port' Award, Recognized for Growth Potential

Sokcho Port in Gangwon Province received the 'Asia Excellence Port' award at the 2025 Shanghai International Cruise Summit, jointly hosted by Shanghai and Royal Caribbean International. The port was honored for expanding visits by foreign cruise lines, improving port facilities, and linking cruises with local tourism—efforts driven by joint marketing since 2016 by Gangwon Province, Sokcho City, and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation. Officials said the award validates Sokcho's international competitiveness and pledged continued support to develop the regional cruise industry and boost the local economy through increased inbound visitors.
