Sokcho City in Gangwon Province is hosting a photo contest, 'Picture-Perfect Sokcho,' until the 27th with total prizes of 7 million won. Subtitled 'A Different Sokcho,' the competition aims to reinterpret well-known attractions and uncover hidden charms that resonate with the MZ generation (Millennials and Gen Z). Entries should capture moments experienced by residents and visitors—not just traditional landscapes—and highlight new SNS-friendly (social media) spots across the city. Photos taken within the last three years by smartphone or digital camera are eligible. Twenty-three winners will share the prize pool, including a grand prize of 2 million won, and selected works will be used on Sokcho’s official website, social media, and future promotional materials. The mayor hopes the contest will disperse visitor flow from concentrated tourist sites like Sokcho Beach and the Tourist Fisheries Market and promote the whole city as a destination.
