The '2025 Jeju Olle Walking Festival' opened on June 6 at Goseong 1-ri Sports Ground in Aewol, Jeju. Hosted by Jeju Province and organized by the Jeju Olle (a nonprofit managing long-distance walking trails), the three-day event runs through June 8 along Jeju Olle Routes 17 and 18, drawing more than 10,000 walkers. On day one participants walked the 17-course forward route (11.9 km) from Goseong-ri Sports Ground to Iho Port; day two covers the forward 17·18 route (16.5 km) from Iho Port to Hwabuk Port; and the final day includes the 18-course reverse route (11.3 km) from Jocheon Manse Hill to Hwabuk Port. Along the trails, attendees can enjoy performances by local artists and food made by village women’s associations (마을 부녀회). On June 8, special events at Hwabuk Port include a Haesinsa (sea-god shrine) tour and a reenacted procession of the Jeju Moksa (local magistrate). Although pre-registration for official souvenirs is closed, the festival is free and open to anyone; details are on the Jeju Olle website and app. Jeju Olle’s director said the festival is a community-built event meant to share warmth, healing, and togetherness.
