Ulsan city will hold a ‘30th Anniversary of Local Autonomy Residents’ Festival’ on Nov. 8–9 at the Taehwagang National Garden outdoor stage. The event celebrates 30 years since the launch of elected local governments in 1995 and aims to share achievements of local autonomy and boost public interest. Exhibition booths from the metropolitan city and five district/county (gu·gun) governments will display the history and accomplishments of local self-government; local resident committee members will present community-led activities. Citizens can join various programs, and on Nov. 8 the 14th Ulsan Residents’ Autonomous Center Club Competition will feature 15 teams competing in genres like pungmul (traditional Korean percussion performance), nanta (rhythmic drumming performance), dance, and traditional dance.
