A 66-Year Veteran Actor Portrays Waiting: Laughter with Lingering WarmthCreatrip Team
a month ago
The comedy play Waiting for Waiting for Godot (an homage to Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot) is running successfully through Nov. 16 at Yes24 Stage 3 in Daehangno. Set in a shabby backstage dressing room, the story follows two understudies—Esther and Val—who long for a chance to replace the leads. Their wistful fantasies about sudden mishaps that might land them onstage mix humor with poignant moments that explore the bittersweet nature of waiting. Veteran actor Park Geun-hyung, celebrating his 66th year since debut, makes his first small-theatre appearance, sharing energetic chemistry and improvised comedic beats with Lee Sang-yoon. The production, written by American playwright Dave Hanson and first staged at the 2013 New York Fringe Festival, invites audiences to reflect on hopes, ambition, and what waiting reveals about desire.
