On display at 18-1 Gallery in Busan until the 7th, mid-career artist Kim Young-mi’s solo exhibition 'Re_touch' transforms discarded ceramics into delicate island-like sculptures. By breaking, reassembling and mosaicking pottery shards, she creates scenes of blooming flowers, birds, feminine faces and trees emerging from sea-formed islands. The artist also repurposes waste materials—used LEGO blocks and egg cartons—reimagining industrial refuse as art to explore coexistence between humans and the environment. Kim says the project seeks to inspire social change by creatively recycling industrial waste. (18-1 Gallery: a contemporary gallery in Busan)
