Consumer Report: 76% Machine-Wash Running Jackets, But Some Brands Require Hand WashCreatrip Team
a month ago
A Korean consumer agency tested eight popular running jackets (Nike, New Balance, Descente, Adidas, Andar, Under Armour, Jexmix, Fila) for warmth, breathability, water repellency, durability and safety. Four jackets (Nike, Descente, Andar, Under Armour) scored better on heat retention, while New Balance, Adidas and Jexmix showed excellent breathability. All products met durability and safety standards, and no PFOA/PFOS were detected. However, water repellency dropped after five washes for four brands (New Balance, Descente, Adidas, Under Armour). Although 76% of surveyed consumers use washing machines, three jackets (Descente, Andar, Jexmix) are labeled 'hand wash' only, prompting the agency to recommend making them machine-washable. The agency advised buyers to choose jackets based on trade-offs between warmth and breathability and said it will continue publishing quality and safety information.
