Shin Ramyun 'Tumba' Becomes First Korean Instant Noodle to Make Japan's Hit 30Creatrip Team
a month ago
Nongshim's Shin Ramyun Tumba was selected for Nikkei Trendy's '2025 Hit Products Best 30,' marking the first time a Korean ramen made the list. Launched in Japan via 7-Eleven in April as a microwaveable cup noodle, the product sold an initial 1 million units within two weeks and has reached about 7 million cumulative sales after expanding to packet (bag) formats in major convenience stores. Nikkei Trendy credited its spicy cream flavor, chewy texture, and novelty as a microwaveable instant noodle for appealing to younger Japanese consumers. Even globally popular competitors like Samyang's Buldak (Buldak-bokkeum-myeon; red chicken stir-fry noodles) did not make the list. Nongshim says the recognition in ramen-kingdom Japan underscores Shin Ramyun Tumba’s unique spicy profile and will help grow Shin Ramyun as a global brand.
