On Nov. 25 at Chuncheon Culture & Arts Center, the 6th Hoban Music Festival stages The Last Snowman, a choral music drama inspired by Choi Seung-ho’s widely read poem collection (nearly 90,000 copies sold) and fable about a lone snowman longing to melt in warm water. Composer Choi Woo-jung adapted the poet’s lines and fragments into a dramatized choral piece performed by the Chuncheon City Choir and DK Players orchestra, with actor Choi Young-joon serving as narrator and Chungcheon’s chief conductor Choi Sang-yoon leading the choir. The work premiered with the National Chorus in 2022 and has been praised for blending literature and music while addressing themes of loneliness, despair and suicide prevention (the poem has reportedly helped some readers reconsider suicide). Tickets go on sale via Ticketlink on Dec. 7 (R seats 30,000 KRW; S seats 20,000 KRW).
