Arko Dance UP:RISE Launches in Daehangno to Support Emerging ChoreographersCreatrip Team
a month ago
Arko (Korean Arts Council) and Daehangno Arts Theater open 'Arko Dance UP:RISE' from Nov 5–12 at the Arko Small Theater in Jongno, Seoul. The program, evolved from last year’s 'Arko Dance & Connection,' is designed to foster sustained artistic growth for dance creators. It features two development stages: 'Stage 1' supports premieres, and 'Stage 2' advances selected works into one-hour completed pieces. Four choreographers—Kim Young-chan, Jeong Chan-il, Park Yoo-ra, and Min Hee-jung—present new works exploring sensory difference, multimedia boundaries, body/scene tensions, and embodiment (chehwa, 體化) on Nov 5, 7, 9, and 12. Earlier Stage 1 participants Lee Hae-ni and Jeon Hyuk-jin, now in Stage 2, will perform in larger and smaller venues between Nov 8–9 and Dec 5–7. The theater emphasizes long-term support to expand choreographers’ creative spheres.
