The National Intangible Heritage Center presents the 2025 Masters’ Works Exhibition — “The Dignity and Grace of Traditional Crafts” in Jeonju from Oct 23 to Nov 16. Marking the 53rd edition of a show that continues the 1973 tradition, 102 designated masters and transmission instructors display 233 works across 14 craft disciplines including bamboo, lacquer, metal, fiber and paper. The theme “from gat-making to sakyang” highlights the aesthetic of the line: delicate horsehair braiding on bamboo frames used for the gat (traditional Korean hat), carved and lacquered pieces, dancheong (traditional decorative paintwork), and Buddhist painting (bulhwa) are shown under four sections — “Lines Woven by Fingertips,” “Lines Enhanced with Splendor,” “Lines Filled with Heart,” and “Lines in Daily Life.” Curators say the exhibition aims to connect visitors to living traditions, celebrate artisans’ techniques and encourage continued transmission of intangible heritage.
