A South Korean matchmaking company, Duo, surveyed 1,000 unmarried adults (ages 20–39) about AI chatbots and dating. About 24% said chatbots helped their romantic life, citing conflict management (55%), date ideas and gift advice (44%), and emotional regulation and self-reflection (43%). Women more often reported benefits for emotional control (52%) and conflict management (64%). Meanwhile, 40% said chatbots were not helpful, mainly because ‘relationship issues need human conversation’ (34%); others said AI offers sympathy but not practical solutions (18%) or gives generic answers (14%). Advantages of AI included no time constraints (28%), objective, solution-focused guidance (20%), nonjudgmental space for honesty (15%), and privacy (15%). When asked whose advice they would trust more during a relationship, 47% favored their partner while 42% said it depends on the situation—suggesting AI is mostly a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human judgment. Duo emphasized that subtle emotional nuance and relational context remain human domains. (Duo is a Korean matchmaking company)
