Mokpo, in South Jeolla Province, becomes a hotspot for autumn galchi (hairtail) fishing when cooler waters fatten the fish. The ‘2025 Peace Square Galchi Fishing’ event runs from August to December 10, with charter boats (28 participating) offering a full package—boarding fee, two rental rods, bait, and snacks—for about 80,000 KRW per person (bring your own icebox).
