Maybe Happy Ending, a Korean musical about two retired helper-bots, Oliver and Claire, opened its 10th anniversary season at Doosan Art Center after winning six Tony Awards in June on Broadway. The story follows how these robots learn the universal emotion of love—beginning with curiosity and companionship, leading to a journey to Jeju Island, and then to the bittersweet realization that their lifespans are limited. Though the protagonists are machines, their simple, sincere feelings resonate deeply with audiences, exploring waiting, longing and farewell. The production leaves its ending open (an ambiguous ending), inviting viewers to fill in the blanks about memory, loss and what love means. Romantic staging details—like an LP player, potted plants and a firefly scene—add warmth, and popular songs from the show enrich the experience. The 10th season reunited original and past cast members and sold out all 50 performances quickly; the run continues through January 25 next year.
