Painter and writer Hwang Ju-ri is exhibiting 'On Brightness' at the Seoul National University Hospital's outpatient gallery (대한외래갤러리) through December 15. The show features about 10 works including her central 'Botany' series—sunflowers, lilies and cacti woven into dense canvases that symbolize joy, sorrow, death and regeneration. Hwang hopes the bright, life-affirming images offer comfort to patients and visitors, helping those in dark moments glimpse reasons to keep living. A celebrated artist and author, Hwang has shown widely and previously mounted a hospital exhibition at Severance. She views hospitals not just as venues but as spaces where light and shadow of life meet.
