South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Copyright Commission and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency declared November as ‘Copyright Festival Month’ to promote respect for and protection of creative works. The month-long program—now in its second year—will feature public campaigns, academic conferences and awards. Choreographer Ria Kim (Kim Hye-rang), who leads efforts to secure choreography rights, was appointed a copyright ambassador to raise awareness about dance (choreography) copyrights. Key events include an International Copyright Technology Conference on AI and copyright with WIPO and EU experts, forums on overseas IP infringement, the 2025 Shared & Public Works Awards, an Interpol-backed enforcement forum, and local exhibitions at the National Copyright Museum in Jinju exploring music rights. Activities will run online and offline, with talk concerts, volunteer outreach, quizzes and social media campaigns to engage citizens and honor contributors to copyright protection.
