The 2025 Wonju Dumpling Festival ran Oct. 24–26 in Wonju’s central traditional market, cultural street and Wonil-ro, attracting a cumulative 410,000 visitors—about 20% more than the city’s registered population. The festival, themed “Delicious Stories, Warm Memories,” featured dumpling cooking classes, booths offering dumplings from around the world, live performances by singers, local arts groups and busking, and hands-on programs. Organizers say the event revitalized the old downtown by bringing customers not only to food stalls but also to nonfood shops (clothing, shoes, accessories), giving a major boost to local merchants. Wonju’s mayor called the turnout a shared achievement and pledged to further develop the festival as a representative Korean food (gourmet) event.
