Jeonnam Cultural Foundation received the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s top award for its ‘Culture Delivery Across the Region – Culture Weekdays’ program, recognized as a large-scale, community-focused cultural policy model with high resident satisfaction. From 2024 the foundation runs themed weekday cultural programs across all 13 cities and counties in South Jeolla Province (Jeonnam), tailoring activities to local life patterns: Monday 'Heal Day' (cultural vaccine), Tuesday 'Travel Day' (culture station), Wednesday 'Star Day' (night openings), Thursday 'Rest Day' (Time Out), Friday–Saturday 'Forest & Tide Day' (cultural leisure), and Sunday 'Play Day' (everyone’s park). Its budget grew from 1.43 billion KRW in 2024 to 1.56 billion KRW in 2025, making it the nation’s largest consecutive public program. Site projects like traditional market courtyard plays (recreating traditional weddings) and the 'Zepeto Troupe' (virtual platform-based mobile woodworking workshops) brought culture to remote mountain and island communities, improving access and community participation. The foundation aims to strengthen local identity by turning perceived limitations into creative strengths so residents can enjoy culture close to home every week.
