Analysis of one year of sales for Baesangmyeon Brewery’s Neurin Maeul (느린마을) makgeolli shows clear gender and age differences in seasonal preferences. Using HomeSul.com purchase data from Oct 2024–Sep 2025, men most often bought the fall-style makgeolli (36.2%)—noted for stronger carbonation—while women favored the spring-style (39.8%), described as sweeter. Overall male breakdown: spring 27.4%, summer 21.2%, fall 36.2%, winter 15.2%; female: spring 39.8%, summer 27.3%, fall 19.6%, winter 13.3%. Younger drinkers (20s–40s) tended to prefer the sweet spring variant (20s: 50.7%), whereas older consumers (60s) leaned toward fall (42.2%) and winter (33.3%) styles that are drier and more carbonated. Neurin Maeul makgeolli is sold according to fermentation age—spring (1–6 days), summer (7–11), fall (12–18), winter (19+ days)—allowing natural taste changes without artificial sweeteners. Baesangmyeon Brewery added QR codes to labels so buyers can check fermentation dates, and HomeSul.com lets customers buy by season. The company plans targeted marketing based on these insights.
