The Busan Concert Hall, the first classical dedicated venue in Busan, will open on June 20. Renowned conductor Chung Myung-whun will oversee its operation and programming as the Artistic Director. The hall, located in Busan Citizen Park, features a main hall with a capacity of 2011 seats and a smaller one with 400 seats. Remarkably, it is the first venue outside of the capital area to have a pipe organ, crafted by Freiburger. Chung hopes the hall will unite Asia's classical stars and emphasize the power of music to transcend borders. The opening performance on June 20 will feature the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Symphony No.9. Notable pianists like Cho Seong-jin and Sunwoo Yekwon will perform in the following days, with more prestigious performances planned for the latter half of the year. Chung aims to make classical music more engaging for the local audience.
