Original musical Aesop's Tale (produced by Comin Company) runs Nov 16–22 at Sejong Center M Theater in Gwanghwamun, Seoul as the kickoff for a 2026 touring production. First staged in 2024 to critical and commercial success—with a 2025 revival selling over 96% of paid seats—the show explores the enduring value of storytelling through the journey of Timos, a slave inspired by the historical Aesop (Aesop: Greek storyteller said to have lived on the island of Samos). Framed as an open “story journey,” the production highlights flexible staging beyond traditional theaters and follows Timos’s exile to Athens and courageous return to Danae, meeting allies like the trader Sitas and the spirit-like narrators Whisper who carry stories from person to person. Cast includes Jeon Seong-woo, Hwang Hwi, and Lee Seok-jun as Timos; Song Sang-eun, Lee Su-bin, and Jang Min-je as Danae and Sitas; with Kim Dae-hyun and a returning ensemble of narrators. Written, composed, and directed by Seo Yun-mi, the musical has earned multiple creative awards and grants, emphasizing its message that sincere stories find their way to where they belong.
