The Island Marlon Brando Fell for Becomes Luxury Eco-ResortCreatrip Team
a month ago
Luxury resort brand The Brando held a media briefing in Seoul to share its values. Located on Tetiaroa (an atoll in French Polynesia), the resort is linked to Hollywood legend Marlon Brando, who fell in love with the island while filming in 1962, later buying it as a private retreat and conservation site. Opened in 2014, The Brando follows Brando’s conservation philosophy, featuring eco-friendly systems such as seawater cooling and renewable energy, and was the first resort to earn LEED Platinum (a top green building certification). The property has 36 villas with private beaches and plunge pools, Polynesian and French dining, a Polynesian spa, pools, bars and water sports. Guests reach the island by charter plane from Faaa International Airport, and public access is strictly limited, attracting celebrities seeking privacy. Visitors can join a “green tour” run with the Tetiaroa Society (a nonprofit research organization) to learn about coral reef research, climate response and cultural preservation under naturalist guidance. The resort emphasizes authentic, non-material luxury: exploring emerald beaches and enjoying traditional performances against a pristine backdrop.
