Cheongsachorong Village in Jangpyeong, Hwacheon-myeon, Hongcheon-gun hosted its second Traditional Wedding Festival, celebrating living customs with hands-on experiences. Highlights included a reenacted wedding procession featuring a groom on a donkey and a bride in a flower palanquin (꽃가마), led by twin child attendants carrying cheongsachorong (청사초롱, traditional paper lanterns). Officials even surprised attendees by acting as palanquin bearers. Traditional rites such as jeonanrye, gyobaerye, and habgeunnye (전안례, 교배례, 합근례 — ceremonial wedding rituals) were performed, along with revived practices like hamjabi (함잽이). Visitors enjoyed interactive booths where children tried yeonji-gonji (연지곤지, traditional bridal face makeup) and hanbok dressing, while adults participated in rice-cake pounding and sampled village-made festive foods. The event, organized by the village with local cultural support, was free and aimed to foster community participation across generations.
