The 33rd Korea-Japan Arts and Culture Exchange Exhibition opened on the 1st at Chuncheon Art Museum, featuring about 80 artists from the two cities showing 80 works of painting and photography. The exchange follows last year’s 32nd exhibition in Hōfu (a city in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan) and continues a 30-year tradition of alternating host cities to promote people-to-people contacts through art. A 11-member Hōfu delegation led by Mayor Ikeda Yutaka attended the opening. Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han praised the long-running cultural ties and said both cities are committed to moving forward together. Mayor Ikeda thanked Chuncheon for hosting and noted active exchanges in sports and the arts since the sister-city relationship began in 1991. Organizers said the event, now in its 33rd year, reflects passion for the arts and respect between communities and will continue across diverse genres.
