A solo exhibition by realist painter Koo Ja-seung runs at Sun Gallery until November 25. The show features about 50 works across still lifes, portraits and drawings, with emphasis on everyday objects—withered wooden boxes, white cloths, faded kettles and empty bottles—that seem lifeless yet are revived on his canvases. Koo continues the long tradition of still life in a modern way, pairing restrained compositions with delicate light and subtle warmth. His pared-down scenes create a meditative “pause,” inviting viewers to contemplate time, presence and the emotions embedded in ordinary things. The exhibition offers a quiet counterpoint to today’s fast image consumption and encourages deep reflection.
