On Sept. 28 at Seoul’s historic Huigyeomjae, the California Travel & Tourism Board and Seoul co-hosted “California X Seoul: Flavors on the Road” as part of the 2025 Seoul Gourmet Week. The event highlighted a 4-hands dining collaboration between California’s Chef Seoh Hyun-min (Michelin 2-star Allen) and Seoul’s Chef Eom Tae-chul (Sosol Hannam). Dishes ranged from Seoh’s smoked salmon with avocado toast to Eom’s yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef mixed rice) and continued with halibut, cauliflower with almonds, steamed crab with chojapchae (stir-fried glass noodle salad), black pork roast, and perilla-oil abalone noodles with tomato kimchi. California wines accompanied the menu. The program also screened promotional films, offered interactive experiences like making personalized slippers (slippers are required inside the cultural site), and featured a “Scoop & Sip” pairing of California wine with ice cream. A morning seminar included travel partners from Disneyland Resort, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Diego, San Francisco, Irvine and Palm Springs. Organizers emphasized gastronomy as a bridge between culture and travel and promoted California as both a culinary and wine destination.
