Gyeongju Injects $70 Billion into Cultural Heritage Projects

The city of Gyeongju in South Korea is investing approximately $70 billion KRW this year in 18 cultural heritage projects. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Bulguksa and Seokguram's UNESCO World Heritage status, Gyeongju will host the World Heritage Festival featuring conferences, seminars, and educational programs. Highlights include the Daereungwon Media Art, which creatively integrates light and media art techniques with tombs like Cheonmachong and King Michu's Tomb, attracting both domestic and international tourists. Other significant events include the World Cultural Heritage Industry Expo and new programs like night-themed cultural experiences and traditional Buddhist temple events. These initiatives aim to highlight and promote Gyeongju's rich cultural heritage.
